Anderson, Ind. – Kyle Pierce, 2020 Republican candidate, has filed to run for the newly redistricted House District 36. Pierce is the first candidate to file to run in the new district.

Pierce ran against incumbent Terri Austin in 2020 coming just 6% short of flipping the seat – the closest race Austin has experienced against a single opponent in her two decades holding this office. Now, two years later, it is more important than ever to change leadership.

“In the last two years, Terri Austin has opposed tax cuts, voted against our Second Amendment rights on multiple occasions, and voted against curbing government overreach in regards to COVID-19,” Pierce said.

Pierce is a pragmatic, Conservative Hoosier focused on protecting his neighbors’ rights and liberties.

“Hoosiers in House District 36 deserve a state representative who will work every day to protect individual liberties, champion higher-paying jobs, empower families to have a choice in their children’s education, cut taxes and cut government waste,” Pierce said in a statement released.

“My experience as former Deputy Director of the Indiana Medical Device Manufacturers Council, as well as my current and past roles pertaining to the health care industry, will allow me to focus on job creation and health-related issues for Hoosiers starting on day one,” Pierce added.

Pierce added, “I look forward to continuing to meet voters on their doorstep during this year to share ideas. The best ideas always come from the hard-working members of our community.”

Pierce serves as the Secretary of the Madison County Republican Party and is a Republican Precinct Committeeman. 

He is a graduate of the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law and Ball State University. Pierce and his wife live in Anderson.
